Silverlight 5.0當然和舊版相同支援Internet Explorer(IE)、Firefox、Google Chrome和Safari 網頁瀏覽器，這次更新使Silverlight支援H.264串流的硬體加速(硬解)功能，增進Postscript列印和更好的向量圖形(vector graphics)顯示等功能，還支援更強效能的3D API。
